Every football game is a Shakespearean drama played out over the course of 60 minutes, with peaks and valleys, good plays and bad plays, in front of thousands - if not millions - of eyes. But in each game there are turning points: moments when the balance of power shifts from one team to the other. They can occur early in a game, in the third quarter, or in the final seconds These moments are often part of a single drive, coming as an offense puts together a string of plays that change the course of a game. These are moments when 11 players, bonded together, see the fruits of their hard work in the spring and summer pay off. The 2015 college football season contained many highs and lows - big upsets, stunning performances, and thrilling games that came down to the final seconds. In this book we examine 17 of these game-changing drives, an unconventional week-by-week recap of the season. These drives reveal not only how their particular contest turned out, but when viewed collectively, tell the story of a season and provide a glimpse into how the game is being played across the college football landscape. The season-long story gives us a window into the schemes, plays and designs that teams are using on the field, and what teams call upon when the biggest play is needed. Each one of the 17 moments contained herein are, in their own way, championship drives. Some, like the Week 4 game-winning drive by the Memphis Tigers against the Cincinnati Bearcats, showed off a potential NFL star like Tigers QB Paxton Lynch, who marched his team down the field in 2 minutes. Others, like Stanford's short but clutch drive against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, dashed one team's College Football Playoff hopes. And one - a classic 9-minute, 22-play, 82-yard drive, led by Michigan State's Connor Cook against undefeated Iowa in the Big 10 Championship Game - helps define the term championship drive. Finally, the CFB playoffs, and Alabama's execution resulting in the crowning of a National Champion.
The book provides tools for the analysis of electrical machines fed on thyristor converters. A detailed exposition of dc and ac drives is given for making the right choice of drive for a required job to give the desired performances. The aspect of phase controlled converters, inverters, frequency conversion using these converters and the method of improving the line conditions are discussed in detail. Mathematical modelling of both dc and ac motors is given. The aspects of performance of induction and synchronous motors of variable frequency supplies are provided. Also discussed are the features of dc motors operating on converters with respect to commutation, speed range, etc. Methods of improvement in the performance are suggested. A short description of micro-processors in the control of thyristorised ac and dc drives is also included

Research on gene drive systems is rapidly advancing. Many proposed applications of gene drive research aim to solve environmental and public health challenges, including the reduction of poverty and the burden of vector-borne diseases, such as malaria and dengue, which disproportionately impact low and middle income countries. However, due to their intrinsic qualities of rapid spread and irreversibility, gene drive systems raise many questions with respect to their safety relative to public and environmental health. Because gene drive systems are designed to alter the environments we share in ways that will be hard to anticipate and impossible to completely roll back, questions about the ethics surrounding use of this research are complex and will require very careful exploration. Gene Drives on the Horizon outlines the state of knowledge relative to the science, ethics, public engagement, and risk assessment as they pertain to research directions of gene drive systems and governance of the research process. Twenty years is a long time in the life of a science. While the historical roots of psychology have not changed since the first edition of this book, some of the offshoots of the various theories and systems discussed have been crit ically reexamined and have undergone far-reaching modifications. New and bold research has led to a broadening of perspectives, and recent devel opments in several areas required a considerable amount of rewriting. I have been fortunate in the last fifteen years to have worked with about 2,000 psychologists and other behavioral scientists who contributed to several collected volumes I have edited. As the editor-in-chief of the In ternational Encyclopedia of Psychiatry, Psychology, Psychoanalysis and Neurol ogy, I have had the privilege of reading, scrutinizing, and editing the work of 1,500 experts in psychology and related disciplines. In addition, I have written several books and monographs and over one hundred scientific papers. Armed with all that experience, I have carefully examined the pages of the first edition. Chapter 8 required substantial rewriting and several new sections have been added to other chapters: "Current Soviet Psychol ogy" (Chapter 2, Section 7); "New Ideas on Purposivism" (Chapter 5, Sec tion 4); "Recent Developments in the Sociological School of Psychoanalysis" (Chapter 9, Section 4); and "Present Status of Gestalt Psychology" (Chapter 12, Section 4). In this paper, we assess the macroeconomic determinants of stock market capitalization in a panel of 17 countries in the Middle East and Central Asia, including both hydrocarbon-rich countries and economies without sizeable natural resource wealth. In addition to traditional variables, we include an institutional variable and remittances among the regressors. We find that (i) both institutions and remittances have a positive and significant impact on market capitalization; and (ii) both regressors matter, especially in countries without significant hydrocarbon sectors; whereas (iii) in resource-rich countries, stock market capitalization is mainly driven by the oil price.
