Drivel

Author: Julia Scott
Publisher: Penguin
ISBN: 9780698152649
Release Date: 2014-09-02
Genre: Humor

The writing in this book is so bad, it deserves its own taxonomy of suckitude. Gillian Flynn, Mary Roach, Dave Eggers, Rick Moody, Chuck Palahniuk, Amy Tan, A.J. Jacobs, Daniel Clowes, Jeff Greenwald, Po Bronson…the list goes on. They all sucked once, and they all have the guts to share some of their crappiest early work in Drivel: an uplifting bit of voyeurism, based on the sold-out “Regreturature” stage shows in San Francisco, and brought to you by Litquake and the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto. Within these pages you’ll find abstruse and esoteric poetry (bad); incoherent and illogical short stories (worse); bumfuzzling proto-journalism (shameful); and pretentious, overwrought journal entries (we’ll not speak of this again). Thanks to these courageous but foolhardy writers, the world now knows the real meaning of a work-in-progress.

Utta Drivel Free

Author: Alan Pinkett
Publisher: Lulu Press, Inc
ISBN: 9781326104917
Release Date: 2014-12-12
Genre: Humor

Utta Drivel Free is a comic novel that follows the life of Wilfric and his friends Boothroyd and Utta Drivel. Wilfric is 1600-odd years-old, a longevity that can make for some interesting takes on history. Meeting up with walking disaster Boothroyd and the wonderfully eccentric patriot Utta Drivel leads to much laughter. Their sparkling conversations cover many interesting ideas. Are 10 commandments enough to cover 7 deadly sins? Why were typists ever needed – you wouldn’t get a monk to do your handwriting for you, after all... But laid-back entrepreneur Wilfric has managed to make enemies in mystical Glastonbury after setting up a business there. This upset the Glastonbury Underworld and they took out a contract on him. The friends' lives become interspersed with attacks from two incompetent New Age hippies - Loco Chanel, a militant aromatherapist, and her mad partner, Ossie the Osteopath. An audaciously satirical work in which the author's wit will make you laugh out loud.

Utta Drivel is a comic novel that follows the lives of laid-back entrepreneur Wilfric and his two friends. Wilfric is 1600-odd years-old, which gives him a unique view of history. His get-togethers with walking disaster Boothroyd and eccentric patriot Utta Drivel always involve much laughter. Their lives cover a wide spectrum. From an Israeli landscape painter by the name of Mori Arty to the use of bonsai whales in garden ponds. From a naïve Catholic priest called Father Thousands to EU regulations requiring French windows to be made in France. From a Middle-aged Folk's Home to a conman called Big One O'Really. And whether funfairs are just a chance for 13-year-old girls to meet gypsies. As life goes by, Wilfric increasingly feels he is being watched. He eventually discovers who by, but not why. That is only resolved when they try to intercept him, resulting in an exciting canal barge chase. An audaciously satirical work in which the author's wit will make you laugh out loud.

An Eagle Tells Flying Stories With Associated Drivel

Author: John Murphy
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 9781477276341
Release Date: 2012-10-15
Genre: Biography & Autobiography

This book is about a shy boy, who learned discipline from strict parents and seven years of Parochial School. My ten years in a band taught marching. A graduate mechanical engineer, who loved to fly control line model airplanes, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, and found the Air Force a piece of cake. The Air Force taught me to fly, although I had little desire to do so, and pushed me to be an extremely aggressive pilot. Skill, knowledge, and training allowed me to advance through the highest performance jet aircraft during the time period of 1955 through 1984. Jet aircraft flown were the T-33A, F86F (Sabre), F100 (Series A, D & F Super-Sabre), F105 (B & D Thunderchief), and the F110 (F4D Phantom). My stories progress from Primary Flight School, through all training and missions in the above aircraft as Pilot, Test Pilot, Instructor, and Air to Air Fighter Pilot. Few understand the training and life of an Air Force Pilot, so the “Drivel” shows a portion of life with these interesting, actual flying stories. A most enjoyable read!
