Dabei erlangen, mit Blick auf die zunehmende Austauschbarkeit der Qualitat speziell spezifische psychologisch-emotionale Bedeutungsinhalte eine wichtige Rolle bei der Differenzierung von Angeboten. Vor allem erfolgreiche Marken wecken bei den Konsumenten Assoziationen, die ihrerseits einen erheblichen Einfluss auf die Kaufentscheidung ausuben. Diese Assoziationen und das in die Marke gesetzte Vertrauen verkorpern einen wichtigen immateriellen Vermogenswert von Unternehmungen. Hiervon zeugen auch die hohen Summen, die bei Firmenubernahmen bezahlt werden und mit dem Wert der Aktiven alleine nicht begrundet werden konnen.
