Legal Photography

Author: Stan Sholik
Publisher: Amherst Media
ISBN: 9781608958603
Release Date: 2015-02-16
Genre: Photography

While the number of assignments available in many photographic specialties is decreasing, there are still relatively untapped growth areas for still photographers and videographers. One of these specialty fields is legal photography. Legal photography involves working closely with lawyers in law firms to provide photographic or video documentation relevant to their civil, not criminal, cases. It can involve a range of other photographic specialties from macro photography to architectural photography. No matter what is involved in a legal photography assignment, it is generally interesting and presents a new, unique set of problems to solve. Legal photography is far more technical than creative, but it is also in demand and is financially rewarding. Civil cases brought to arbitration or jury trial range from simple to complex. Common to all cases is the need to present evidence in a fair and accurate manner. In this book, readers will learn how to take responsibility for ensuring that the images captured and delivered for presentation are a “fair and accurate representation” of the observed scene. That responsibility begins with the choice and use of the proper equipment (e.g., camera type, sensor size, capture mode, the correct focal-length lens for the job), through the techniques used during image capture (exposure, lighting, camera angle, camera-to-subject distance, white balance, etc.), to the processing of the captures for output. Sholik also points out that documentation is required for each step to ensure all parties that the representation is indeed fair and accurate—and the details of how this can be accomplished are outlined in this book as well. Also covered is information about how to proceed should you be asked to give testimony as to the accuracy of your work and information about the requirements to be deemed an “expert witness.” For most photographers, doing assignments in the field of legal photography is the easy part. Getting the assignments can be more of a challenge, so the process of marketing yourself as a legal photographer is covered.

Google for Photographers

Release Date: 2012-03-21
Genre: Photography

Prior to Google+, Photographers relied on a mix of Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and other services to display their work and interact with others. No single service provided photographers with a complete set of tools that allowed them to connect with others in a rich, meaningful way–until now. Unlike other social networks, Google+ allows photographers to upload, personalize, and update images easily. The Google+ interface is intuitive and attractive—images appear large and uncropped in the stream, preserving their original integrity; and the infinite scrolling feature creates a fluid, enjoyable photo browsing experience. In addition, the Google+ interface is built to encourage social interaction, not in miniature sound bites, but in full-length discussions with diverse groups of people. Users can build circles to connect with just those they want to include in different conversations, and they can use the Hangouts feature to talk with other users in real time from anywhere in the world. With this book, you'll see why Google+ has quickly become the most inspiring and interactive social network for photographers, and you'll learn how to leverage Google+ to build a following and connect with other photographers–and potential customers. Explains how to effectively showcase your work for the vibrant and growing Google+ photography community Shows how to upload, organize, and share your images; and hone your skills through photo-critique circles Features interviews with leading photographers who share their own photos and tips on how to make the most of Google+ to build an online presence

Release Date: 2016-08-10
Genre: Business & Economics

The internet and online communications, including social media, have had a marked impact on how businesses in both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) environments engage with their audiences. Paid advertising efforts have, for some companies, taken a back seat to marketing in ways that leverage online communication to influence their audiences – driving people to their websites where they may engage with the brand and, ultimately, make a purchase decision. "Influencer marketing" has become a big buzzword in this new environment. It's a term that refers to leveraging the influence of key people and businesses to support your brand and spread the word about your products and services through their own social channels. Influencer marketing means different things to different people and is approached in a variety of ways. In this book, digital marketing experts share their definitions, best practices and case examples to help you determine whether this form of marketing would work for you and, if so, how to make it happen!
