Genre: Technology & Engineering

This book describes the elementary concepts of superconductivity and discusses the topics of flux-lattice melting, magnetization including the para-Meissner effect, microwave absorption, a.c. resistivity along with the London penetration depth, the M”ssbauer effect, levitation, fractals and nuclear magnetic resonance. There are appendices covering superconducting compounds, the isotope effect, symmetries, the pseudogap, relativistic superconductivity, the Cherenkov effect and soft vortices. Also included is an appendix on the quantum Hall effect. In all of the chapters, the theoretical description is supported by experimental data. Several of the topics discussed here cannot be found in the other books on this subject.

Multibody Mechatronic Systems

Author: Marco Ceccarelli
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9783319098586
Release Date: 2014-08-19
Genre: Technology & Engineering

This volume contains the Proceedings of MUSME 2014, held at Huatulco in Oaxaca, Mexico, October 2014. Topics include analysis and synthesis of mechanisms; dynamics of multibody systems; design algorithms for mechatronic systems; simulation procedures and results; prototypes and their performance; robots and micromachines; experimental validations; theory of mechatronic simulation; mechatronic systems; and control of mechatronic systems. The MUSME symposium on Multibody Systems and Mechatronics was held under the auspices of IFToMM, the International Federation for Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science, and FeIbIM, the Iberoamerican Federation of Mechanical Engineering. Since the first symposium in 2002, MUSME events have been characterised by the way they stimulate the integration between the various mechatronics and multibody systems dynamics disciplines, present a forum for facilitating contacts among researchers and students mainly in South American countries, and serve as a joint conference for the IFToMM and FeIbIM communities.

Molecular Microbial Ecology Manual

Author: Antoon D. L. Akkermans
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9789400902152
Release Date: 2014-01-13
Genre: Science

For a long time microbial ecology has been developed as a distinct field within Ecology. In spite of the important role of microorganisms in the environment, this group of 'invisible' organisms remained unaccessable to other ecologists. Detection and identification of microorganisms remain largely dependent on isolation techniques and characterisation of pure cul tures. We now realise that only a minor fraction of the microbial com munity can be cultivated. As a result of the introduction of molecular methods, microbes can now be detected and identified at the DNA/RNA level in their natural environment. This has opened a new field in ecology: Molecular Microbial Ecology. In the present manual we aim to introduce the microbial ecologist to a selected number of current molecular techniques that are relevant in micro bial ecology. The first edition of the manual contains 33 chapters and an equal number of additional chapters will be added this year. Since the field of molecular ecology is in a continuous progress, we aim to update and extend the Manual regularly and will invite anyone to depo sit their new protocols in full detail in the next edition of this Manual. We hope this book finds its place where it was born: at the lab bench! Antoon D.L. Generalized moment methods in electromagnetics

Author: Johnson Jenn-Hwa Wang
Publisher: Wiley-Interscience
ISBN: UOM:39015019629495
Release Date: 1991-01-22
Genre: Mathematics

Now available for the first time in print are the new concepts and insights developed over the last three decades in the broad class of computational techniques called the methods of moment. Designed to serve as both a professional reference and graduate-level textbook, it will be useful in calculations for electromagnetic problems related to, among others, antennas, scattering microwaves, radars and imaging. Also included are problems for students, with the solutions available.
