In her third Royal Spyness whodunit, Rhys Bowen returns with Lady Georgiana, thirty-fourth in line to the throne, everyone's favorite penniless heiress . . . With its posh clientele gone to the country, my fledgling housecleaning business has fizzled. Now to make a living I must rely on my other talents, as a dinner-and-theatre companion. But on my first and only assignment, the not-so-gentle man seems to have quite the wrong idea - and Darcy, my on-again-but-usually-off-again beau, must come to my rescue . . . To avoid further scandal, I'm shipped home, like a naughty schoolgirl, to Castle Rannoch, where I am required to keep the entirely unsuitable Mrs. Simpson from seducing the Prince of Wales. Oh, and I've also been coerced into helping Scotland Yard by keeping an eye on the members of the shooting party at Balmoral and preventing someone from shooting the Prince of Wales instead of quails. And manage all this without strangling my odious sister-in-law, Fig, or my spineless brother, Binky . . .

Queen Amy and the freedom fighters of Silver City knew it was only a matter of time before they’d be forced to faceoff against the overwhelming numbers of her mother’s invading black army. Queen Cassandra’s soldiers were slowly crossing the breadth of the grassland to meet their rivals on the field of battle and wipe out the impertinent threat, once and for all. The Black Queen’s prior encounters with the upstart colony had challenged her authority and disrespected her status as territorial monarch, which was a matter of opinion between the two sides , leaving Amy’s mother no other choice but to confront her daughter, face to face. The imminent invasion was all about power, control and covering up the deep dark secrets from the past. While the evil monarch had the larger force, capable of easily crushing her adversaries, Silver City’s freedom fighters weren’t about to go down quietly. They knew intelligence and a creative imagination were their strengths and using them to outsmart an overconfident black army was their only hope, but a good one. The colony had a few surprises waiting for their uninvited guests and allies who believed in their cause, which, with a little luck, could change the outcome in their favor.

It is something new: the life of an actual royal family, whose story is so rich and varied that it falls naturally into the form of a modern novel. The heroine is Princess Henrietta of England, known to family as Minette. She is the Duchess of Orleans, and linked dramatically to the fate of her brother, Charles II, and that of her cousin, Louis XIV.
